Florida State Fair judging and – Michael Fortune!

Yesterday, at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, all of the woodworking entries for the fair’s contest were in place, and all that was left was for the judges of the competition to take a good, long look at the offerings.. some highlights include a unique guitar-themed chair and Andy Gibson, who walked away with a few blue ribbons… one for one of his exquisite ukeleles and one for the Shaker style workbench he recently built.

The guitar chairAndy with one of his prize winning ukelelesThe real treat happened when contest judge – and legendary band saw woodworker – Michael Fortune called a meeting to order to do a quick class on tuning and using band saws.  If you have never seen Michael’s work, he truly is a master of the saw and can get the most out of that useful tool.
